Saviour Pirotta is a children’s author who loves myths and legends but also detective stories, mysteries and adventures. He has written many kinds of books, including pirate stories, non-fiction and, more recently, detective stories. He particularly likes writing historical fiction. Saviour grew up on the island of Malta, which is home to some of the world’s most fascinating prehistorical sites. This awoke in him a love of writing about the past.
Set in the Neolithic times, The Wolfsong Series follows the character of Wolf and his dog, Shadow, as they journey from their home in Skara Brae to the distant shores of Malta, meeting many interesting characters along the way.
Book 1
Wolf has always been an outsider to his community, with his strange dreams and stargazing. When he is saved by a secretive stranger called Crow, he brings her into his village. Some time later, someone breaks into the sacred burial mound and steals a precious spear belonging to a dead healer. Convinced that Crow stole the spear, Wolf is banished by his village to find it. But the world outside the village is harsh and new… will Wolf find the strength he needs to find the spear?
Book 2
Wolf has returned to his village with the stolen spear but his life is far from peaceful. Determined to become a shaman, he is gifted a special amulet which gives him seeing dreams: mysterious visions of the future.
But Wolf’s rivalry with Rain takes a nasty turn and when Moon is poisoned, the village rejects Wolf once again. In order to clear his name, Wolf leaves to guide a sickly Moon to find a cure — but it seems other dangers are following close behind.
Book 3
Wolf’s rival, Rain, has stolen his precious amulet! Furious, Wolf is determined to retrieve it but following Rain takes him and Crow on a journey far beyond the world he knows—over oceans to mountains filled with fire and a mysterious island at the centre of the world. Forces of great power reside there, in temples and goddesses, of which Wolf has never seen before. Only Wolf’s greatest test may come from within, and his hardest battle could be against himself.
Book 4
Wolf is reunited with his bird-skull amulet but with it comes seeing dreams of turmoil and rebirth, of creatures with teeth waiting in the dark. And when the Sleeping Goddess sleeps no more, it seems Wolf’s whole world will be caught in her fury.
With the Goddess’s curse heavy on his shoulders, can Wolf find the strength to rise against it and become a true shaman?
The epic conclusion to the Wolfsong Series.
